Jeff Davis, the Oak Park district superintendent, said in a news release that "the team at Oak Park High School has demonstrated consistent excellence and the dedication needed for successful teaching and learning." Oak Park High Principal Mathew McClenahan said he was thrilled the school was being recognized and praised the hard work put in by students, educators, parents and the community, especially during tough times like the pandemic. The award specifically recognizes the top 15% of schools nationwide that made the most progress closing the gap in English and mathematics over the past three to five years, based on state student assessment test scores.
